Empathy is a leadership skill and an essential cultural practice that matters more today than ever before.

There is a diminished ability to understand and communicate with other people, and it is limiting opportunities for meaningful connection.  Rob’s focus is on the how-to of empathy. Understanding other people starts with listening.  The more we can sit back, ask questions and truly learn about others, the more empathy we will feel for their experiences. Start by taking a ‘curious breath’, which gives you the opportunity to change your perspective and your approach. 

 

Rob’s new book is filled with examples of practicing empathy.  He highlights interactions about cats, chips, sex, and travel.  Each example showcases the power of asking questions and showing empathy in the interactions that we have with people who are like us, and, more importantly, the people that are nothing like us at all.
